The Spring Poker Run
April 9th the yacht club organized its first poker run of the year. Once again the weather Gods smiled down upon us and produced a beautiful day for a boat run. Dock master Sean McCarthy and club members did a great job of planning 5 stopping points to get cards for each boat’s poker hand.
The stops included the Amelia Island Yacht Basin, the city marina in downtown Fernandina Beach, a third by the entrance to the St. Mary’s River, Lang’s fuel dock in downtown St. Mary’s, GA, and a final stop at the yacht club.
After 3 hours or so out on the water, enjoying each other’s company, the weather, watching fishermen bob on the Amelia River, passing snowbirds, either at anchor in the two cities’ marinas or heading North, and seeing a few dolphins cruising the waterway, we arrived at a fun BBQ planned for 1:00 PM at the yacht club. Lots of poker faces had smiles this day!
