The Roseate Spoonbill is very particular about its environment and Oyster Bay Harbour is one of the very few places this remarkable species can be seen outside of the Tampa Area and South Florida’s Everglades.
The Osprey, often referred to as a Sea Hawk, can be quite aggressive when nesting. In Oyster Bay we have created nesting essentials for Ospreys on tall poles. Read up on this bird Here.
Off course many other bird species, both land and waterbased have made the marshes and ponds of Oyster Bay Harbour their home. Don’t be surprised if an occasional flock of Pelicans zoom by overhead. Many species congregate here. If you see some you don’t recognize, try this link to find out.
