It’s summertime and the living is real easy at Oyster Bay! It’s not only a slice of paradise; it’s the people that live here that make it such a special place. The staff and I love nothing more than to see our members have a good time and that is exactly what we have been doing.
We kicked April off with a family cook out and Easter Egg hunt which was a huge success. A special thanks to the activities committee and especially Heather Pinckney for organizing and implementing all the fun activities for the children. They had a blast! Before we knew it, it was time for the Club’s event of the year, Monte Carlo night! The lucky winners went home with some fabulous prizes, thanks to all the wonderful local vendor donations. In addition to a great time and great prizes, OBYC also was able to give back. A portion of every ticket was donated to Project Chance, which is a local charity that trains assistance dogs for autistic children. What a win win for everyone, we were able to donate $350 to this wonderful cause.
In addition, we also donated $150 to Micah’s Place which represented $5 from each ticket sold for our annual ladies’ fashion show. Everyone enjoyed a wine social upon arrival, lunch and fashions & accessories by Coldwater Creek which were modeled by Heather Pinckney, Wanda King, Shirley Vansant & Robyn Murray! Thanks ladies, you looked absolutely beautiful and did an amazing job. I think everyone will agree it was a wonderful afternoon with the girls and we are already looking forward to next year.
And now the Summer is here so grab your sunglasses and join us by the pool! In addition to our regular dining hours, the club is now open on Sundays from 12 noon – 4:00pm. We will offer outside seating, bar service and our Sunday Fun Day limited menu.
It is with great pleasure to introduce, John May, as our new Food & Beverage Manager. I have had the privilege of working with John for many years at Amelia Island Plantation where he served as Director of Food & Beverage. He brings a wealth of talent and experience with him and we are very fortunate to welcome him on our team. Having John over see the food & beverage operation will allow me to focus my efforts on events, sales & marketing. The goal being more members! If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet John, please say hello the next time, he is anxious to hear your ideas and suggestions.
We certainly appreciate everyone’s support of the recent weddings and private events at the club. These events are vital to the club and allow us to continue to provide quality service & food at a value to our members. Looking ahead, Make plans now to join us Saturday, June 23 for a tour of boats followed by a tropical dinner and music on the deck by our old friend, Mr. Sean McCarthy! Hat’s off to the activities committee for this fabulous idea! This is a great opportunity to take an inside peek at the beautiful boats in our harbor. It’s sure to be another great time and we look forward to seeing everyone there!
