Excitement at the Oyster Bay Yacht Club
With weekly menu changes and additions Chef Shawn Meeks is tweaking his cuisine selections at the Oyster Bay Yacht Club to satisfy discriminating palates at reasonable prices.
It’s refreshing to see how the new staff has molded into a finely tuned machine that is putting out great new meal and drink creations and lots of fun activities. If you haven’t been to the Club lately, truck on by to try the new menu or take the Downtown Fernandina Beach Ferry, by Amelia River Cruises.
For example, they’ve just introduced the “Sunday Fun Day Bar” menu which will be served, you guessed it, every Sunday from 12 noon – 4pm! Everything from soups and salads to burgers and baskets is on tap – not to mention the famous Oyster Bay Club, served poolside!
Last week’s “Ladies’ Fashion Show” to benefit Micah’s Place, raised $450 and was a blast. An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed a great combination of food, fashion and fun. All the models did a fantastic job. (They might have new careers in the offing!) Hats off to Jo Brumund, Wanda King, Judy Davis, Kay McAllister, Charlotte Collins, Rosemary Collins, and Robin Murray, all of whom looked stunning from head to toe.
Kay McAllister added a special splash of humor to the day – who knows, she may be expected to entertain at all future shows and yes the Ladies’ Fashion Show is a keeper on the Activities Calendar!
A new Saturday feature activity is the “Amelia River Cruise and Tropical Dinner Buffet”. The first one is scheduled for June 4, featuring music on the deck by Darren Ronan. Considering the response and reservations, this may just be a huge Hit this Summer.
Other fresh ideas from the new team at Oyster Bay Yacht Club include Dinner at your Service, delivered within Oyster Bay, Complimentary Club Privilege Cards that will allow members to invite guests to experience fine Oyster Bay dining, Quarterly Cooking Demos by Chef Shawn.
